Friday, I'm in Love, v.9

It's Friday and I'm in love with...

I have never really been all that big on cinnamon (the flavor or the scent). But ever since curiously witnessing M couple cinnamon and coffee, I have been hooked on this comforting combo. My Taste of Austin blend just isn't the same without it.

Without getting too personal or heavy on this Friday post, I will simply state that my dad and I are finally, as adults, really forging a proper relationship. I hadn't spoken to him in the last two months, for no particular reason, and I finally dropped my stubborn pride and sought him out yesterday. It was so nice to just pick up where we left off and not have to hash out and whine and pout. I'm so thankful for grace. Whether you're giving or receiving this gift, it's absolutely beautiful.

The last few days in North Texas have been overcast and cooler, weather that absolutely begs for a nice evening fire. I'm still pretty clueless when it comes to building one (apparently not everything that can burn should be used as kindling...now you know), so M takes care of business while I cuddle up in jammies and stare mesmerized at the flames.

What's keeping you cozy this week, dear readers?

  1. I love adding cinnamon to my coffee. When I use it for lattes I don't even add any sugar. The cinnamon alone is all I need.

Glad to hear things are getting better between you and your dad. Happy Friday! :)

  2. Hey Nat! Thanks for #FF on Twitter girl. I really appreciate it. Girl I love cinnamon rolls! HAHAHA Totally not good for me. My mom and dad divorced when I was really young and I rarely spoke to him. After Katrina, we began talking a lot. He passed 2 years later. I'm so glad we rekindled our relationship. Glad you reconnected. Trust me its a blessing. Have a great weekend girl! ((HUG))

  4. I've had cinnamon in lattes before, but I don't know why it never occured to me to put it in regular coffee. Such a special touch!

Thank you so much! And Happy Friday to you, Stephanie. Thanks for commenting. :)

  5. Of course! Thank you for sharing about your dad. I'm so glad y'all got the chance to reconnect before he passed. No matter how old we get, it's strange to be without our folks. You have a great weekend too, Kim! ((hug))

  9. I'm looking forward to some warming mulled wine (with a cinnamon stick to add more flavour) and lighting some scented candles for a cosy night in - it's so cold and wet here!

  10. You know, a fireplace wasn't even on my must-have list when apartment hunting last summer, but now I think I'm hooked. :)

  11. Oh, I don't even want to admit how stocked my spice rack/pantry is NOT, probably because I am so intimidated by baking. I lose my woman card on that one. But cinnamon is most definitely in there. No one has to know it's for my morning coffee, not tasty baked treats! ;)

  12. Ooooo! I like your style, lady! We did a lot of candles and staying in this weekend, too. I love when it's cold and rainy out. Great excuse to stay in under blankets and watch Christmas movies.
