Ballerina Chic

Having spent over a decade as a ballerina, there is something within that still lights up at even the slightest hint of that pink satin world. (Much in the same way I start searching for the nearest barre on which to practice my plies whenever I hear classical music. It's all very Pavlovian.)

I'm pleased as punch to see all of the charming ways in which ballet style has seeped into fashion at large. Some of these details are considered classic at this point (er, pointe...hehe), while others serve as a whimsical nod to the prima ballerina within us all.

  3. I haven't gotten in on it, but if I could get away with leg warmers every day...I would do it!

  5. Me too! My mama totally perfected the braided buns for my recitals, but me...I still need some help. I can never get it in the right place! Haha.

  6. Oh, they're fantastic! I'm so glad they're in vogue. The more they resemble ballet slippers, the more I adore them.

  7. Haha. I hear ya, Meg! It's so feminine and elegant, yet makes you walk a few inches taller and feel like you could leap over anything. (You can't, BTW. I tried.)

  8. I will be rocking ballerina flats for as long as I shall live. The fact that I am height impaired will not stop my love of these shoes. And, honestly, if I thought I could wear a tulle skirt without laughing at myself, I would totally do it.

  9. I love all these trends. I always wanted to take ballet but never did. I guess I'll just have to settle for living out that childhood dream through fashion. :)

  11. Me too, A! I am a wee bit jealous of my cousin's daughter because she gets to traipse about all day in a tulle skirt. Oh, the life of a 5 year old. (For many reasons.)

  12. Heck yeah! No balance or flexiblity needed to rock these looks. Thank goodness, too, because this body does NOT move like it used to. Haha.
